polks asked: How sassy is this blog gonna get, because I am hoping it becomes like a roman coliseum. I want to see BLOOD!! Actually this is just a really neat idea and i hope it doesn't get too swamped to keep up with. This isn't a question.
IT REALLY DEPENDS ON THE DRAWINGS SENT IN. IF I DISLIKE IT I’M GOING TO GET PRETTY FUCKIN SASSY THOUGH SORRY.
Alright, latest thing I’ve done that I’m proud of.
GONNA HAVE TO SAY I’M KINDA INDIFFERENT TO THIS DRAWING. I can’t really say anything because you weren’t trying to like….make some portfolio worthy piece it’s just a fun silly sketch of fanart that looks like it was p enjoyable to draw.
It’s pretty simple and pretty funny. Lady Rainicorn’s got a pretty bodacious bod in it and I like the fact that you attempted lighting. There’s a lot to work on but it’s really just a sketch so you don’t gotta have it all finished or anything so I won’t bother mentioning clean up and refining and stuff. One thing you might wanna watch out for is getting muddy colours while shading. Don’t use too many greyed out versions of a colour jest sayin. Also watch out for dat foot there. Gets kinda confusing because it’s direct in the foreground and it’s not lined or darker.
One thing that I will FOREVER dislike/ be confused by though is when people draw hair in chunks though. Like they draw sorta individual wisps of hair and don’t have it taper at the end? Or like quickly just blot on stuff on the hair. Even if it’s a sketch if you’re not like..colour blocking and actually sort of following shape and shading you should probs just find a brush that tapers and shade in a silky hair like fashion. B) If you just use the round brush that doesn’t change in shape it overrides all the nice wispy lines you draw for hair.
That Jake is fuckin cute though.
isthatwhatyoumint asked: can we just submit links to pieces? 8O
YES YOU MAY! Go for it. B)
Old moleskine drawing by me
WOW YAY FIRST SUBMISSION CLAPS FOR YOU!!!
But ok I am going to very tentatively say I like this drawing.
I actually have no idea what’s going on in this picture, as in I can’t exactly tell whether certain things are limbs or not or just..what exactly is going on BUT BUT BUT I STILL ACTUALLY REALLY LIKE THE LOOK OF THIS. While I can sort of tell that the construction and actual technical skill level of the artist may not be up to par I actually think that this is one of those great times where the drawing actually came out pretty pleasing.
First thing first this drawing has a freaking great colour palette and composition though I don’t know whether it was on accident or on purpose. Also the way each feather (???) is drawn makes it looks like ink was dropped on paper and allowed to bleed which is pretty sweet. It’s got a whole bunch of like.. detailing as in every single bit of it is detailed. All of the scales feathers whatever and the whole EVERYTHING NEEDS TO HAVE SMALLER MARKINGS THAT MAKES IT LOOK COMPLICATED!!!!!! makes it totally overwrought and heavy looking BUT
it also just looks like really cool decorative asian art. Where they don’t bother giving any part of a drawing room to breathe because they feel the need to finely detail EVERYTHING. When I first opened up the drawing I actually thought you’d drawn like a peacock or something.
ANYWAYS, I like this drawing, you’ve got a lot to work on but you’ve also got a pretty interesting eye for things.
